Glavista has been serving the automotive industry for over 85 years, providing a range of high
performance glass solutions including windshields, side lights and rear lights. The Guardian Glass Company
started out in 1932 as a small windshield manufacturer in Detroit, home of the American automotive industry. In
fact, Guardian’s knight on horseback icon was originally adopted to reflect the security and protection of
Glavista windshields.
Today, Glavista continues to serve the European automotive market with world class local production
facilities and a fast and reliable distribution network for Automotive Replacement Glass (ARG). But there is
much more to Guardian than our broad range of solutions for automotive replacement glass.
Three distinct divisions
Since our humble beginnings in Detroit, Guardian Industries has grown to become a diversified global
manufacturing company with leading positions in float glass and fabricated glass products for commercial,
residential and transportation applications; automotive trim; and the distribution of building products.
Headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan, the organization has over 17,000 employees and operates in 148
locations across 5 continents.
The company is comprised of three distinct divisions: Guardian Glass, SRG Global and Guardian Building Products.
Guardian Glass
Guardian Glass is the largest of the three divisions and Glavista is part of this division. A global
leader in the glass industry, it is one of the largest float, value added and fabricated glass manufacturers in
the world. Guardian Glass solutions can be seen in many of the outstanding construction projects in some of the
largest cities on the planet. These range from the award winning Markthal in Rotterdam to the largest
megastructure in the world; the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. When it comes to innovation, Guardian Glass leads the way
with its state of the art research and development center in Michigan. The Science and technology center (STC)
is also where Glavista develops new solutions for the ARG market.
SRG Global
SRG Global is also active in the Automotive market. It is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of high value
coatings on plastic for the automotive and commercial truck industries. Its broad range of products are focused
primarily on automotive interior, exterior and subsystems as well as motorcycle trims and vehicle grills.
SRG Global is always looking forward, wanting to improve its manufacturing and coating processes. This is
exemplified with the recent Quality Excellence Award which it received from General Motors.
Guardian Building Products (GBP)
Guardian Building Products operates predominately in the U.S. Starting out over 140 years ago in the lumber
business it has grown into a reliable distributor of building products. Today, it is one of the leading two-step
distributors of specialty building products, with more than 30 stocking distribution centers strategically
located throughout the United States. Yet it has never lost sight of providing the best customer service, a key
contributor to its ongoing success.
