Here at Glavista, we are delighted to support young professionals starting out in the industry, by taking part in the
ObenCar project. This ‘learning by doing’ programme gives participants hands-on experience in our dynamic and fast-paced industry, challenging them to design and build an electric car.
The project is run by the
Automotive Intelligence Center (AIC), a research and innovation hub in Amorebieta (Spain). They offer a host of services to improve the global capacity of the sector, inviting leading international auto suppliers to network, pool their knowledge, and innovate together for the future. We at Glavista are proud to be partners with this key player in the industry. And, given our expertise when it comes to manufacturing premium autoglass solutions for the OE and aftermarket, we are more than happy to share our know-how.
The ObenCar initiative challenges a team of six recent technical graduates to develop an electric car, working together on everything from design and simulation to electrification and autonomous driving. They build the car at AIC and visit partnering suppliers for practical workshops in specialised areas. For example, our Research, Development & Innovation team acted as mentors to work on the car’s front glazing. As of now, the developed glass that we provided has been placed in the car, and we look forward to seeing the finished product!
ObenCar is a wonderful opportunity for us to support, educate and mentor the industry’s upcoming thinkers and doers. It also allows us to help shape the future of the automotive industry, as the project is dedicated to test innovations and new developments. We are excited to incorporate the knowledge generated by the project into our own future production too.
